Dead On – Strange Tales from the road to racing in Florida

I weighed the tongue weight and it was 1550 lbs. Thank goodness I am using one of Trailer Toad 5000SDs to keep the tongue weight off the coach and cushion the impacts between trailer and coach on the highways that I am pretty sure have not gotten smoother.

The plan is to go straight to Immokalee Regional Raceway's 1/8th mile track in Immokalee, FL. Mike Fuqua and the Hesters are putting on a 5-Day event (Nov. 4-8) that will pay $12,000 to win each day. After that we have about four days to do "Florida stuff" and hopefully a little fishing or some golf.

Then it is the "Fun in the Sun" 5-Day race (Nov. 14-18) put together by Scott Weney and Scotty Richardson at Bradenton Motorsports Park where $10K is up for grabs each day on the 1000'. Leave the day that race is over to get parked at the PBIR facility near West Palm Beach and I hope to have a great week at the Dick Moroso 5-Day Event (Nov. 21-15) where $10K a day is also up for grabs. We will do something on Thanksgiving to give thanks to God for all he has done for us. Then we either stay at PBIR for the Citrus Nationals  (Nov. 28-30) or go to Bradenton for the Snowbird race (Dec. 5-7).

Of course, the interesting part could be the "getting there". I feel we have prepared as well as I could and if you take a couple minutes each day to look at my Strange Tales blog in both and you will be up to date on what happens when a tight budget hits a major road trip. ;-)

A little prayer for our safe travels would be appreciated and don't forget to think of the hundreds of other racers headed south to the 2014 Florida Winter Series.
