WCHRA season opener at Bakersfield, Calif.

On March 29-30 the West Coast Hot Rod Association returned to Auto Club Famoso Raceway to kick off the Kings Oil Tools 2014 season presented by Vortech Racing.

This is the eighth season for the association and will include two full weekend events featuring all the WCHRA classes and Summit brackets as well as a one-day event in July with eliminations under the lights at Famoso.
The WCHRA will also be making their debut at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on May 3 featuring all the classes of the WCHRA and the Las Vegas Summit program. WCHRA will finish the points series with an Heads Up Only class event August 8-9 at Sacramento Raceway featuring the WCHRA True 10.5, 275 Radial, Outlaw 8.5 and Limited 10.5 classes racing for a Championship and Edelbrock “Shootout” money as well.

In the Index classes, B, C and D/GAS (8.60, 9.60 and 10.60) racers have been combined to create the Super .60/Triple Index Class. Racers will compete for the overall points championship and the WCHRA will also crown the top points earner in each Index within the Super .60 Index Class.

On the Bracket side of things are Sportsman (.5 Tree, No Electronics), Open Comp (.4 and .5, Pro Tree, No Electronics), Top Doorslammer (6.60-7.59 Dial-in, No Electronics) and Top Comp (8.60 and Quicker). An “anything goes” class with all four will be running for WCHRA points championships this year.
As in 2013 there will be a “race each day” format on the two-Day Weekend events, offering two qualifying runs Saturday followed by Eliminations and on Sunday one qualifying run in the morning followed by Eliminations.
